This company has been in business since 1923, and probably earlier. They made saw-filing machines. They are now the makers of Wright bandsaw guides, originally manufactured by C. E. Wright Co. Black Diamond's phone number is 508-653-4480.

Parts and service for Black Diamond bandsaw guides are also available from

     Jasper Parts

Some Black Diamond bandsaw filing and setting machines have been seen with a patent date corresponding to a 1909 patent granted to Artemas C. Ambler of Natick. He had earlier been co-inventor on machines related to boot- and shoe-making. In 1939, George B. Ambler of Natick was granted a patent for a twist-drill sharpening machine. That patent was assigned to Black Diamond Saw & Machine Works.

Information Sources

  • Thanks to Chuck Hess for posting pictures of his Black Diamond saw filer. The patent date on that machine led to a patent search that revealed most of the information here.
  • The 1923 date is from Hand-Saw Makers of North America, by Erwin L. Schaffer.
